‘Starting is Easy – Sticking is difficult’ #YouAreYourDream #Evam

Karthik Kumar 4The Starting is filled with promise – momentum, hope, fuel, encouragement from the right quarters and cynical discouragement from the ‘right’ quarters – and everybody is watching nonetheless. Its a good feeling to be watched and watched out for. The spotlight is on you – and its time to run!

But what happens post the spotlight phase- where all results, good and bad and mediocre are being received anonymously – people have stopped watching, and not much of a Damn is being given! That’s the part where Sticking comes in… And most Entrepreneurship is Sticking by – not to the methods – but the journey…

Sticking is tough because its relentless – different approaches same results, same approaches and only mildly different results – victories that only you consider are victories and failures that you keep quiet so that they don’t make too much of a noise.

Sticking is everyday – and the sun is such a painful reminder of sticking to its duty – you almost blame that damn thing for shining down and setting such a shining example… shut it already!

But the focus of this entire Quagmire of uncertainty is the sole flame of certainty that decides it all – the Fuel that drives it all… the source, the fountainhead – the WHY!
Why are you doing this? Why did you start? Why does it feel like its something you ought to be doing? The Why of this Journey!

If the answer is -the spotlight – the attention – the focus – then that’s quickly going to run out!
If the answer is – it makes me feel like a better person each day, and makes me feel good about myself and my self image – then its much more sustainable…

Your Journey is only yours – no one else will ever understand it – they will pat you on the back when you least deserve it, they will not even realise it when the most significant thing happened and you have to explain its significance… its not their fault – because it is your journey and the colour is on the shades you are wearing – the rose is your tint mate!

If the journey is meaningful, Sticking by it only makes it even more Meaningful- whereas if you run out of Meaning already, then its either time to revisit the Why, or stop – change track… do something else!
